Accessibility

Pawbiotics is for dog owners, and dog owners read in every possible way. If any part of this store is getting in your way, we want to hear about it directly, and we will tell you honestly what we have and have not fixed.

What we aim for

We work toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That is the standard courts and the US Department of Justice point to, and it is the one we measure ourselves against.

We are not claiming to have finished. Any store that tells you it is fully compliant is either not testing or not being straight with you.

What we have done

  • Every page of this store is tested with axe-core, an automated accessibility engine, and we fix what it finds.
  • Every product image has a written description, so a screen reader can tell you what is in the picture rather than skipping it.
  • Text colours across the store were rebuilt to meet the 4.5:1 contrast minimum. Small coral and grey text used to fall below it in dozens of places, including the footer on every page.
  • The product image gallery and the review carousel can now be reached and scrolled with a keyboard alone.
  • Icons that carry meaning, like the yes and no marks in the comparison table, are now announced by screen readers instead of being silent.

What we know is not finished

Being straight about this is more useful than a badge:

  • Automated testing catches a great deal, but it cannot tell you whether a page actually makes sense when read aloud. Nothing replaces a real person using the store with a screen reader and telling us where it fell apart.
  • Checkout is hosted by Shopify and we do not control all of it. If you hit a barrier there, tell us anyway and we will escalate it and help you place the order another way.
  • Some third-party apps inject their own markup into our pages. We audit them, but we do not write them.

Tell us about a barrier

Email hello@mypawbiotics.com

Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what you use to browse (for example VoiceOver on iPhone, or NVDA on Windows). We will reply. If we cannot fix something quickly, we will tell you the workaround in the meantime, and if you were trying to place an order we will help you finish it.

Buying by phone or email

If the store itself is not workable for you, you do not have to fight it. Email the address above and we will take the order and arrange delivery without you using the website at all.
